Celebration – Happy Birthday Margaret

Things continue to happen irrespective of restrictions under Level 3 Covid 19 conditions.
On Sunday, member Margaret McIndoe celebrated her 90th birthday.
Margaret and husband Bill had a very busy social day with friends, including some from the Club, singing to them from outside their home at Carey’s Bay, along with Zoom, FaceTime & Skype calls from friends and family from all over the world.
A couple of photos, thanks to Ann Crane, set part of the scene.

OYC Wickliffe Bay Results & Photos

On Sunday 23 February we held the Wickliffe Bay race. Eight yachts entered. It started out with a flukey north east breeze at times from Carey’s Bay down to the Heads where by the time most of the fleet arrived, the influence of an incoming tide locked everyone into a battle to break free of the entrance. Various strategies to avoid the main tidal current were employed with five yachts managing to head down the coast but only four made it to the turning mark at Wickliffe Bay due to a lack of viable wind. In the end only two yachts completed the course. Keeler division winner ‘Maraquita’ (Jamie Todd) and Trailer Yacht division winner  Dawnbreaker (Owen Cambridge). Both ‘Teneke’ & ´Casino’ on their return were involved in the rescue and tow of a cabin cruiser with engine problems from outside the Heads back to Deborah Bay.
