OYC Timms Cup – 26 January 2025

This was a rerun of the OYC Timms Cup that was previously scheduled for 8 December. Conditions were overcast with light rain but good sailing and harbour conditions. A small fleet of enthusiastic sailors competed and enjoyed a welcome BBQ after the event. Thanks to all the competitors along with Pete, Robyn, Michael, Ann, Ross, Penny, Peter & Frank who made this all happen.

OYC Christmas Celebration 2024

The OYC Christmas Celebration kicked off with a flotilla of yachts, launches and RIB’s making their way to the PCYC where a BBQ lunch was enjoyed by all. Thanks goes to Owen & Lesley for their efforts in making this a success. Next the flotilla headed back via the eastern channel round the various bays. The weather disrupted further in and on water activity as the thunder rolled, the lightning flashed and the rain pelted down. Everyone assembled back at the club by 1630 where soon after Santa arrived and dished out an array of gifts and treats to the kids and everyone else. This was followed by a Christmas dinner from BBQ Bill of spit roasted pork, chicken, new potatoes, vegetables and salads and finished off with a dessert of pavlova, fruit salad and ice cream. A big thanks to Ann, Ross, Pete, Frank, Gary, Penny, and helpers for making the day memorable. Some photos from the day can be viewed.  HERE

OYC Mac & Back Race – Results & Photos – Nov 24

The annual Mac and Back race started at 1000hrs on Sunday 24 November. Conditions were favourable and there was a great turnout of 13 yachts which provided a splendid spectacle on the harbour. Congratulations to ‘TENEKE’ and crew for taking out the trophy.

OYC Wickliffe Bay Race – Results & Photos. Nov 24

The OYC Wickliffe Bay Coastal Race started at Carey’s Bay at 0830 hrs. Conditions were very favourable with an initial southerly wind which allowed a spinnaker run from near the start to the Heads. Only 3 yachts were competing and all completed the course. Line honours went to ‘Potamos’ ( Pinky Morris) although he was savaged by his handicap rating which relegated him to 3rd place.

OYC & VYC Combined Opening Day Regatta – Results & Photos

The combined OYC & VYC Opening Day went off in changeable weather conditions with a combination of wind, rain and shine. Early conditions may have deterred a few boats from entering but overall, it was a good day with a field of 10 yachts competing. Results are available  CLICK HERE. Thanks goes to John Smail for the committee boat and to the team aboard, plus the rescue boat crews and the helpers who organised the BBQ and manned the bar afterwards.
