The OYC Wickliffe Bay Coastal Race started at Carey’s Bay at 0830 hrs. Conditions were very favourable with an initial southerly wind which allowed a spinnaker run from near the start to the Heads. Only 3 yachts were competing and all completed the course. Line honours went to ‘Potamos’ ( Pinky Morris) although he was savaged by his handicap rating which relegated him to 3rd place.

OYC Closing Day Racing – Results & Photos
The OYC Closing Day featured the Michael Haggitt Trophy race which started at 1300 hrs in the Upper Harbour. The wind was very light and patchy which produced an interesting range of results.
A great turnout of 12 yachts competed. Line honours went to Murray Grimwood in ‘Hi Jinx’ with Gerry Close & Ellan Baker in ‘Mrs Simpson’ winning the Michael Haggitt Trophy. Photos can be viewed HERE. Results are available HERE A big thanks to Ann & Frank for the food procurement and preparation, to Pete & Robyn for organising, setting the race, photos and results etc, to Geoff and Michael for the time keeping, to Grant for manning the bar and to all the competitors who supported the day and enjoyed the BBQ afterwards.
OYC Lady Skippers Race Results & Photos
The OYC Lady Skippers Race started at 1300 hrs in southerly wind over tide choppy conditions. Despite our best efforts to attract Lady Skippers to this event most had other plans on the day. Those that did attend had a ball in a close run battle. Some navigators have been heavily rebuked by their skipper’s for leading them astray. (Note: you had to be there!) First placing and line honours went to Ellan Baker in ‘Teneke’, with Lisa Lyell in ‘Minx’ gaining second place. Thanks goes to Gerry Closs in ‘Mrs Simpson’ for adding competition to the race.
