The OYC Lady Skippers Race started at 1300 hrs in southerly wind over tide choppy conditions. Despite our best efforts to attract Lady Skippers to this event most had other plans on the day. Those that did attend had a ball in a close run battle. Some navigators have been heavily rebuked by their skipper’s for leading them astray. (Note: you had to be there!) First placing and line honours went to Ellan Baker in ‘Teneke’, with Lisa Lyell in ‘Minx’ gaining second place. Thanks goes to Gerry Closs in ‘Mrs Simpson’ for adding competition to the race. This race was held on Saturday 16 March. The conditions in the harbour to begin with were okay but outside there was a swell and gusty conditions of some 30 – 35 knots coming off the cliffs which made things uncomfortable.
Four yachts registered for the race but illness scratched one, leaving three to compete.
They were: ‘PIPSQUEAK’ Mike Dewar, ‘MINX’ Geoff Lyell & ‘POTAMOS’ Pinky Morris.
Line honours goes to MINX’ skippered by Geoff Lyell who also wins by 31 seconds (on handicap) with second placing going to ‘POTAMOS’ skippered by Pinky Morris. ‘PIPSQUEAK’ being single handed by Mike Dewar was DNF due to the conditions.

This was held on Sunday 10 March in light conditions.
The field consisted of six yachts: ‘TIERCEL’ (Pip Cotton), ‘ENFIN’ (Andy Winneke), ‘MINX’ (Geoff Lyell), ‘KINTYRE’ (Peter Kennett), ‘SIR LANCERLOT’ (John Manning), & ‘ELIZABETH’ (Allan Craig)
‘MINX’ skippered by Geoff Lyell & crew was the only yacht to complete the course and takes the win.
